Abstract
A vehicle wheel adapter system for mounting different wheel hubs with protruding lugs, while allowing for quick assembly and disassembly can comprise a rim having a periphery for supporting a tire, a web plate for mounting on the opposed side of the rim, a plurality of inwardly projecting mounting bolts for placement through the web plate holes, an adapter plate having a first series of spaced apart bores for receiving the lugs, a second series of spaced apart bores for receiving the mounting bolts, and fasteners for fastening the adapter plate to the lugs and the bolts.
Claims13
A vehicle wheel system adaptable for different wheel hubs having a plurality of outwardly projecting threaded lugs, the system comprising:
- a) a rim having a periphery for supporting a tire, the rim having a hub facing side and an opposed side;
- b) a web plate for mounting on the opposed side of the rim, the web plate having a plurality of holes therethrough;
- c) a plurality of inwardly projecting mounting bolts for placement through the web plate holes;
- d) an adapter plate having a first series of spaced apart bores for receiving the lugs, and a second series of spaced apart bores for receiving the mounting bolts;
- and
- e) fasteners for fastening the adapter plate to the lugs and the mounting bolts.
A vehicle wheel system adaptable for different wheel hubs having a plurality of outwardly projecting threaded lugs, the system comprising:
- a) a rim having a periphery for supporting a tire, the rim having a hub facing side and an opposed side;
- b) a web plate for mounting on the opposed side of the rim, the web plate having a plurality of holes therethrough;
- c) a plurality of inwardly projecting mounting bolts for placement through the web plate holes;
- d) two different adapter plates, each adapter plate having (i) a different first series of spaced apart bores for receiving lugs for different wheel hubs, and (ii) the same second series of spaced apart bores for receiving the mounting bolts;
- and
- e) fasteners for fastening the adapter plate to the lugs and the mounting bolts.
A vehicle with decorative wheels comprising:
- a) a vehicle body with at least four wheel hubs, each hub having a plurality of outwardly projecting threaded lugs;
- b) at least one rim for supporting a tire, each rim having a web plate having a holes for placement of a plurality of inwardly projecting mounting bolts;
- c) an adapter plate for each wheel hub and having a first series of spaced apart bores receiving the lugs, and a second series of spaced apart bores receiving the mounting bolts;
- and
- d) nuts fastening the adapter plates to the lugs and the mounting bolts.
A method for attaching a wheel to a wheel hub having a plurality of outwardly projecting threaded lugs comprising the steps of:
- a) inserting the lugs into an adapter plate having a first series of spaced apart bores for receiving the lugs;
- b) mounting a rim having a web plate for supporting a tire onto the adapter plate by inserting a plurality of inwardly projecting mounting bolts projecting through the web plate into a second series of spaced apart bores in the adapter plate;
- and
- c) fastening the adapter plate to the lugs and the mounting bolts with fasteners.
