Abstract
The invention is a watercraft carrier that can be easily loaded and secured. The carrier has a base and an arm with a belt that runs the length of both the base and the arm. A watercraft is placed within upon the base and against the arm. Then the belt is extended using a crank so that the belt come around the watercraft and the belt is secured using a fastener that is attached to the end of the belt. Then the belt is tightened to secure the watercraft by turning the crank the other direction or by use of a ratchet. In the preferred embodiment, the belt has a flexible stiffener added to make the belt stiffer, but still flexible enough to secure any shaped watercraft.
Claims23
A watercraft carrier comprising a unit with:
- a base attached to an arm;
- a belt with a fastener at one end of the belt;
- a corresponding fastener;
- so when a watercraft is placed upon the base and resting against the arm, the belt can be pulled over the watercraft and the fastener attached to the corresponding fastener securing the watercraft.
A watercraft carrier comprising:
- a hollow base with a proximal and distal ends;
- a hollow arm with a proximal and distal ends that is attached to the base at the proximal ends of both the base and the arm so the hollow space in both the base and arm is continuous;
- a belt with a proximal and distal ends that is made with tubular nylon webbing with a flexible stiffener;
- a crank attached to the distal end of the base and attached to the belt that is threaded through the hollow space in the base and arm and attached to the crank by the proximal end of the belt;
- a fastener attached to the distal end of the belt so that the fastener is at the distal end of the arm;
- a corresponding fastener attached to the distal end of the base;
- a bed attached to the top of the base;
- a ratchet attached to the belt so that the ratchet can tighten the belt;
- so that when a watercraft is placed upon the bed and resting against the arm, the crank is turned to extend the belt around the watercraft and then the fastener at the distal end of the belt is reversibly attached to the corresponding fastener on the distal end of the base, and then the belt can be tightened to secure the watercraft by either turning the crank or tightening the ratchet.
