Modular fluid distribution system

An interconnection assembly for the transport of a fluid between an external fluidic means and a mounting block of a modular fluid distribution system comprising:

• a cylindrical cavity, said cylindrical cavity being formed through a face of said mounting block, said cylindrical cavity having a wall and a bottom, a fluid port being formed at said bottom of said cylindrical cavity;
• a cylindrical flow element, a fluid passage being formed through an axis of said cylindrical flow element, at least one retaining groove being formed on said outer surface;
• an annular sealing means, said annular sealing means being compressible;
• a retaining means, said retaining groove being configured to receive said retaining means;
• wherein said cylindrical flow element is inserted into said cylindrical cavity, said annular sealing means being compressed, said annular sealing means forming a hermetic seal between said fluid passage of said cylindrical flow element and said fluid port of said mounting block;
• and wherein said retaining means engaging said retaining groove, said retaining means being braced against said mounting block, said retaining means preventing substantial disengagement of said cylindrical flow element from said cylindrical cavity, said retaining means preventing substantial transmission of torque between said cylindrical flow element and said mounting block;
• and wherein said fluid is transported between said external fluidic component and said mounting block via said cylindrical flow element.

A mounting block of a modular fluid distribution system comprising:

• a mounting face, a bottom face, and a plurality of lateral faces, said mounting face being configured to receive a mounted fluidic control component;
• a first cylindrical cavity;
• a second cylindrical cavity;
• a first port, said first port formed in said mounting face, said first port being configured to receive a first gasket;
• a second port, said second port formed in said mounting face, said second port being configured to receive a second gasket;
• a first fluid passage, said first fluid passage fluidly communicating between said first cylindrical cavity and said first port;
• a second fluid passage, said second fluid passage fluidly communicating between said second cylindrical cavity and said second port.
