Abstract
An improved roofing material having an upper and lower surface in which a thin layer comprising re-melted polypropylene or other suitable plastic is adhered to at least a portion of its lower surface.

In a roofing material having a front surface, at least a portion of which is intended to be exposed to weather, and back surface facing in a direction opposite to the front surface, the improvement comprising a thin layer consisting essentially of a plastic material covering at least a portion of said back surface, said layer being at least 0.5 mils thick.
