Abstract
A method of manufacturing a crystalline that is a ceramic phosphor material having a structural defect such that the ceramic material within the ceramic phosphor material is used to shield and absorb the radiation emitted by a nuclear core while the phosphors are excited by radioactive radiation causing them to produce energy in the form of photons. This method includes the use of a slurry of materials including ceramic and phosphor material that is mixed and undergoes a thermal plasma process wherein structural defects are added to form a light dissipating material that when cooled forms the crystalline.
Claims8
A method of creating a crystalline for a nuclear cored battery comprising the steps of:
- providing a ceramic phosphor slurry,
- subjecting the ceramic phosphor slurry to a thermal plasma process;
- and
- adding a structural defect during the thermal plasma process to create a light dissipating material.
A method of creating a crystalline for a nuclear cored battery comprising the steps of:
- providing a homogenous mixture comprising a ceramic phosphor slurry;
- heating the homogenous mixture to create a layer of ceramics having an alumina structure;
- subjecting the layer of ceramics having an alumina structure to a thermal plasma process to form a light dissipating material;
- and
- cooling the light dissipating material with a quenching gas.
