Abstract
A novel inbred maize line designated PHACV and seed, plants and plant parts thereof. Methods for producing a maize plant that comprise crossing inbred maize line PHACV with another maize plant. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into PHACV through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. Hybrid maize seed, plant or plant part produced by crossing the inbred line PHACV or a trait conversion of PHACV with another maize line. Inbred maize lines derived from inbred maize line PHACV, methods for producing other inbred maize lines derived from inbred maize line PHACV and the inbred maize lines and their parts derived by the use of those methods.
Claims24
A process of introducing a desired trait into maize inbred line PHACV comprising:
- (a) crossing PHACV plants grown from PHACV seed, representative seed of which has been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-7056, with plants of another maize line that comprise a desired trait to produce F1 progeny plants, wherein the desired trait is selected from the group consisting of waxy starch, male sterility, herbicide resistance, insect resistance, bacterial disease resistance, fungal disease resistance, and viral disease resistance;
- (b) selecting F1 progeny plants that have the desired trait to produce selected F1 progeny plants;
- (c) crossing the selected progeny plants with the PHACV plants to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait and the alleles of inbred line PHACV at the SSR loci listed in Table 2 to produce selected backcross progeny plants;
- and
- (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) to produce backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and comprise at least 95% of the alleles of inbred line PHACV at the SSR loci listed in Table 2,
A maize plant having all the physiological and morphological characteristics of inbred line PHACV, wherein a sample of the seed of inbred line PHACV was deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-7056.
