Abstract
In a compression sleeve for the local enclosure of a blood vessel or vein area comprising a retaining structure of a biocompatible material, the retaining structure is a flexible mat consisting of a mesh or net-like structure provided with an arrangement holding the retaining structure in a vein enclosing position.

A compression sleeve for the local enclosure of a blood vessel or vein valve area, comprising a flexible mat of a biocompatible material for wrapping around the blood vessel and means for maintaining the mat wrapped around the blood vessel, said mat consisting of one of a mesh, a net-like structure and an open porosity structure.
