Abstract
Saccharide-derivatized oligosaccharides prepared by extruding a reaction mixture comprising a saccharide having a degree of polymerization ranging from 1 to 4 and a starch having a degree of polymerization of at least 200, wherein the extruding imparts sufficient energy and work to derivatize the starch with the saccharide.
Claims25
A mixture of saccharide-derivatized oligosaccharides prepared by extruding a reaction mixture comprising a saccharide having a degree of polymerization ranging from 1 to 4 and a starch, wherein the extruding imparts sufficient energy and work to derivatize the starch with the saccharide.
A process for preparing a mixture of saccharide-derivatized oligosaccharides, comprising:
- providing a mixture that comprises a saccharide having a degree of polymerization ranging from 1 to 4, and a starch;
- extruding the mixture, wherein the extruding imparts sufficient energy and work to derivatize the starch with the saccharide, to thereby produce a mixture of saccharide-derivatized oligosaccharides.
The process of claim 22, wherein the amount of saccharide having a DP of 200 or greater is present in the reaction mixture in an amount of from about 30% to about 50% by total saccharide weight.
Dependencies are inferred from the claim text.
