The present invention relates to the use of an alkanoyl L-carnitine, or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, for the preparation of a medicament for the treatment of anhedonia.

A method of treating anhedonia comprising administering to a subject in need of same an alkanoyl L-carnitine, wherein the alkanoyl group linear or branched has 2-5 carbon atoms, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
A method of treating anhedonia comprising administering acetyl L-carnitine, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, to a subject in need of same.
