Abstract
A system and method to monitor a virtual machine VM. The VM executes one or more applications. During executing of the one or more applications, local objects are created and stored within an internal heap maintained by the VM. Status data of the internal heap is published to monitoring memory external to the VM.
Claims21
A computer-implemented method, comprising:
- executing at least one application on a virtual machine (“VM”);
- storing local objects, created during executing the at least one application, within an internal heap maintained by the VM;
- and
- publishing status data of the internal heap to monitoring memory external to the VM.

A machine-accessible medium that provides instructions that, if executed by a machine, will cause the machine to perform operations comprising:
- executing at least one java application on each of a plurality of java virtual machines (“JVMs”);
- storing local objects, created during executing each of the at least one java applications, within corresponding internal heaps maintained by each of the plurality of JVMs;
- and
- publishing status data of each of the internal heaps to shared monitoring memory maintained external to the plurality of JVMs.

A system, comprising:
- a server node to execute an application server (“AS”) instance, the AS instance including logic executable by a processor of the server node to:
- execute at least one java application on each of a plurality of java virtual machines (“JVMs”);
- store local objects, created during executing each of the at least one java applications, within corresponding internal heaps maintained by each of the plurality of JVMs;
- and
- publish status data of each of the internal heaps to shared monitoring memory maintained external to the plurality of JVMs.
