A computer-implemented method comprising steps of:
- (A) receiving a memory dump request from a first operating system executing in a computer;
- (B) at a program executing in the computer and not forming a part of the first operating system, copying contents of a memory of the computer to a persistent storage device in response to the memory dump request.
An apparatus comprising:
- request reception means for receiving a memory dump request from a first operating system executing in a computer;
- and
- dumping means, not forming a part of the first operating system, for copying contents of a memory of the computer to a persistent storage device in response to the memory dump request.
A computer system comprising:
- a persistent storage device;
- a first operating system executing in the computer system, the first operating system comprising first computer program instructions tangibly embodied in a computer-readable medium in the computer to transmit a memory dump request;
- a program executing in the computer, the program not forming a part of the first operating system, the program comprising second computer program instructions tangibly embodied in a computer-readable medium in the computer to copy contents of a memory of the computer to the persistent storage device in response to the memory dump request.
