Abstract
A system and method to debug a thread without affecting other threads in a virtual machine. A virtual machine (VM) may execute a thread subject to debugging and another thread. An interface to the VM permits only debugging command that are specific to the thread subject to debugging to affect the VM.
Claims25
An apparatus comprising:
- a virtual machine (VM) to execute a first thread subject to debugging and a second thread;
- and
- an interface to allow only first thread specific debugging commands to affect the VM.
A method comprising:
- entering a debugging mode for a first thread in a virtual machine (VM);
- receiving a debug command;
- and
- filtering the command if the command affects a thread that is not in the debugging mode.

- and
- a debugger coupled to the interface to direct debugging commands to the VM.
