System and method for permitting a software routine having restricted local access to utilize remote resources to generate locally usable data structure

A method comprising:

• receiving a program at a local computer from a remote computer;
• executing the program on the local computer, the program being restricted from accessing a file system on the local computer;
• receiving an initial multimedia file at the local computer system from the remote computer system;
• the program on the local computer system performing the following:
• outputting information on the local computer system related to the initial multimedia file;
• receiving modifications to the initial multimedia file at the local computer system to create a modified multimedia file, the program executing on the local computer system being unable to store the modified multimedia file in the file system of the local computer;
• transmitting the modified multimedia file to the remote computer;
• receiving the modified multimedia file at the local computer from the remote computer, the local computer being capable of storing the modified multimedia file.

A method comprising:

• receiving an initial multimedia file at the local computer system from the remote computer system, the initial multimedia comprising two or more of audio, video and text;
• a program, executing on the local computer system, performing the following:
• receiving modifications to the initial multimedia file at the local computer system to create a modified multimedia file, the program executing on the local computer system being unable to store the modified multimedia file in the file system of the local computer due to restrictions;
• transmitting the modified multimedia file to the remote computer;
• and
• receiving the modified multimedia file at the local computer from the remote computer, the local computer being capable of storing the modified multimedia file.
