Abstract
Near infrared imaging using elastic light scattering and tissue autofluorescence are explored for medical applications. The approach involves imaging using cross-polarized elastic light scattering and tissue autofluorescence in the Near Infra-Red (NIR) coupled with image processing and inter-image operations to differentiate human tissue components.
Claims13
A diagnostic apparatus, comprising:
- a substantially narrow-band electromagnetic radiation source directed to illuminate one or more tissue components,
- a device adapted to record an analyzed degree of polarization near-infra red scattered electromagnetic radiation and/or a near infrared autofluorescence emission resulting from said illuminated tissue components;
- and
- means to characterize said tissue components, further comprising inter-image operations on said detected scattered radiation and said near infrared autofluorescence emission to enhance image contrast and visibility of said tissue components.
