Abstract
Compositions and methods based on the use of fluoroalkene containing from 3 to 4 carbon atoms and at least one carbon-carbon double bond, such as HFO-1214, HFO-HFO-1233, or HFO-1354, having properties highly beneficial in solvent cleaning applications.
Claims43
A solvent cleaning composition comprising at least one haloalkene selected from the group consisting of dichloro-tetrafluoro-propene;
- chloro-trifluoro-propene;
- and tetrafluorobutenes, said composition having an ozone depleting potential (ODP) of not greater than about 0.5.
The solvent cleaning composition comprising at least one compound according to Formula I:
- XCFzR3-z (I)
- where X is a C2 or a C3 unsaturated, chlorine or fluorine substituted alkyl group, each R is independently Cl, F, Br, I or H, and z is 1 to 3, preferably at least 2 and even more preferably at least 3;
- wherein said compound has an acute toxicity level at least about 30 relative percent less than the toxicity level of HFO-1223xd.
A solvent cleaning composition comprising at least one haloalkene selected from the group consisting of at least one isomer of dichloro-tetrafluoro-propene;
- at least one isomer of chloro-trifluoro-propene;
- and at least one isomer of tetrafluorobutenes, said composition having a global warming potential (GWP) of not greater than about 150.
A method of cleaning an article containing a contaminant comprising contacting the article with an amount of at least one haloalkene selected from the group consisting of dichloro-tetrafluoro-propene;
- chloro-trifluoro-propene;
- and tetrafluorobutenes, wherein said amount is sufficient to solvate at least a portion of said contaminant.
