Abstract
Method and apparatus for determining a transmission configuration for a dedicated channel in a wireless communication system. In one embodiment, an optimum configuration is determined based on minimizing Peak-to-Average Ratio (PAR) of the channel. The configuration is defined as a transmission pair of transmission branch and spreading code. The transmission branch may be the In-Phase (I) branch or the Quadrature (Q) branch. PAR analysis may be performed off-line to determine the optimum configuration. In operation, if the spreading code of the optimum configuration is used by another channel, the next best optimum code is used.

In a wireless communication system, a method comprising:
- queuing a first set of data for transmission according to a first transmission configuration, wherein the first transmission configuration is determined as a function of Peak-to-Average Ratio (PAR), and further wherein the first transmission configuration specifies a particular channelization code and a particular modulation path;
- and
- queuing a second set of data for transmission according to a second transmission configuration, wherein the second transmission configuration is determined as a function of Peak-to-Average Ratio (PAR), and further wherein the second transmission configuration specifies a particular channelization code and a particular modulation path.
A method in a wireless communication system comprising:
- determining a particular modulation path and a particular channelization code from a transmission configuration, wherein the transmission configuration is determined as a function of Peak-to-Average Ratio (PAR);
- queuing a set of data for transmission on the particular modulation path;
- and
- applying the channelization code to the set of data.
A wireless communication apparatus, comprising:
- means for queuing a first set of data for transmission according to a first transmission configuration, wherein the first transmission configuration is determined as a function of Peak-to-Average Ratio (PAR), and further wherein the first transmission configuration specifies a particular channelization code and a particular modulation path;
- and
- means for queuing a second set of data for transmission according to a second transmission configuration, wherein the second transmission configuration is determined as a function of Peak-to-Average Ratio (PAR), and further wherein the second transmission configuration specifies a particular channelization code and a particular modulation path.
