Abstract
A multi-benefit oral composition is provided. The oral composition is efficacious as an antibacterial, antiplaque, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and anti-halitosis oral composition. The active ingredient has one or more active compounds from an extract of oregano. The oral composition can be in the form of a mouth rinse; a dentifrice, including toothpaste, gels, powders; animal products; a film; or confectioneries, such as lozenges, and the like. Methods of making and using the oral composition are also provided.

An oral care composition comprising an active ingredient comprising a safe and effective amount of one or more active compounds from an extract of oregano, and an orally acceptable carrier.
An antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant active ingredient for use in an oral care composition comprising a safe and effective amount of an extract of oregano.
A method of providing one or more oral health benefits to an oral cavity of a mammalian subject, the method comprising:
- preparing an oral care composition comprising an orally acceptable carrier and a safe and effective amount of an active ingredient comprising one or more active compounds from an extract of oregano, and
- contacting the oral care composition with an oral surface of the oral cavity to provide the benefits thereto.
