Support structure for a portable air compressor

A portable air compressor assembly, comprising:

• a frame having a plurality of members including opposed side sections;
• a support plate horizontally disposed between the side sections in a normal operating position of the air compressor assembly;
• an axle fixedly connected to each of the side sections having a wheel rotatably connected to the axle;
• each side section including:
• a first straight portion having the axle extending transversely from the first straight portion;
• a first bend located rearward of the axle;
• a second straight portion connected to the first bend and oriented in the normal operating position angularly rearwardly and upwardly with respect to the wheel and at an angle with respect to the support plate;
• a second bend connected to the second straight portion, the second bend creating a frame rotation stop;
• and
• a third straight portion connected to the second bend and oriented substantially parallel to the first straight portion.

A portable air compressor structure, comprising:

• a frame having a plurality of members including opposed first and second side sections, the frame defining a forward end and a rearward end;
• a support plate horizontally disposed between and connected to the side sections in a normal operating position of the air compressor assembly;
• an axle fixedly connected to each of the side sections having a wheel rotatably connected to the axle;
• and
• a front handle connected to the forward end of the frame, the front handle defining three bend portions including a first bend portion releasably connected to the first side section, a second bend portion releasably connected to the second side section, and a third bend portion defining a central structure lift section aligned with a central longitudinal axis of the compressor assembly, the third bend portion substantially defining a V-shape.

A self stabilizing portable air compressor assembly, comprising:

• a frame having a plurality of members including opposed first and second side sections, the frame defining a forward end and a rearward end;
• a support plate fixedly connected to the first and second side sections and horizontally oriented in a normal operating position of the assembly;
• an axle fixedly connect to the first and second side sections and having a wheel rotatably coupled to each end thereof;
• and
• a center-of-gravity of the assembly disposed forward of the first and second axles in the normal operating position and forward of an axis extending vertically from the axis of rotation when the compressor assembly is rotated about the axis of rotation into a contact position between the rearward end and a ground surface to operably bias the air compressor assembly away from the contact position and toward the normal operating position.

A portable air compressor assembly, comprising:

• a frame having a plurality of members including opposed first and second side sections, the frame defining a forward end and a rearward end;
• first and second axles each fixedly connected to one of the first and second side sections, each axle having a wheel rotatably connected thereto, an end of each of the first and second axles defining one of an opposed pair of outer planar envelopes of the assembly;
• a fluid pressure tank positioned proximate the forward end, the fluid pressure tank having opposed ends each extending outwardly of one the opposed outer planar envelopes of the portable air compressor assembly;
• and
• a handle releasably connected to the frame;
• wherein the compressor assembly is configurable in each of a shipping configuration and an operational configuration, the shipping configuration having the handle coaxially slidably inserted into the side sections to a fully retracted position and the first and second wheels removed from the axles, and the operational configuration having the handle extending outwardly away from the shipping configuration and fastened to the side sections, and the wheels installed on the axles.
