Abstract
An exemplary controller includes a control valve that includes an electric actuator operatively coupled to a valve stem, a piston operatively coupled to one or more hydraulic fluid paths controlled by the control valve and including a piston shaft, a rotatable shaft operatively coupled to the piston shaft and mechanically isolated from the valve stem and capable of adjusting geometry of the variable geometry turbine, and an electronic sensor capable of sensing an angular position of the rotatable shaft. Various other exemplary systems, methods, devices, etc., are also disclosed.
Claims17
A turbocharger housing comprising:
- a variable geometry unit for a variable geometry turbine;
- an actuator to actuate a hydraulic link to the variable geometry unit to thereby control geometry of the variable geometry unit wherein the hydraulic link provides for, directly or indirectly, movement of a component associated with the variable geometry unit;
- and
- an electronic sensor for sensing geometry of the variable geometry unit by sensing movement or position of the component.
A turbocharger housing for a variable geometry turbine, the housing comprising one or more windings capable of supplying phase information to a phase detector and positioned proximate to an opening capable of receiving a member selected from the group consisting of a rotatable member, a translatable member and a translatable and rotatable member wherein the member comprises a member associated with the variable geometry unit and wherein the phase information pertains to movement or position of the member.
A turbocharger housing for a variable geometry turbine, the housing comprising one or more resonator circuits capable of interacting with one or more windings and positioned proximate to an opening capable of receiving a member selected from the group consisting of a rotatable member, a translatable member and a translatable and rotatable member wherein the member comprises a member associated with the variable geometry unit wherein the interacting pertains to movement or position of the member.
