Abstract
An apparatus for displaying ribbons and badges on a garment wherein predetermined arrangements of awards can be quickly and reliably established using designated openings in a template. Using break-away portions, the template can be sized as needed and pin holes are preferably used to mount ribbons having a marking implement such as a pin to secure the ribbon to a uniform. A separate badge positioning section includes horizontal slots preferably slightly offset vertically with a portion of said horizontal slots co-linear.
Claims20
A template for positioning and attaching military ribbons and badges having piercing fastener elements to a portion of a uniform garment relative to a top edge of a pocket, said template comprising:
- an elongated plate having a lower edge and an upper edge;
- a badge positioning section having one edge in common with said lower edge of said plate and including at least one laterally projecting slot dimensioned to receive a pair of said piercing fastener elements;
- and
- a ribbon positioning section including a first section for the minimum number of ribbons and a second reducible extended section connected to said first section and separable therefrom.
A template for positioning ribbons and optional badges on the external surface of a uniform garment relative to an upper edge of a garment pocket, said template comprising:
- a rectangular rigid plate including a lower edge and an opposing upper edge and a pair of opposing side edges, said lower edge including a transverse centering mark;
- a lower section in said plate with a pair of elongated spaced apart first and second slots with said first slot being positioned closer to said lower edge than said second slot, said second slot including a notch with a lower edge in linear alignment with a lower edge of said first slot;
- and
- an upper section in said plate including a middle section with a pair of single ribbon bar holes for receiving a pair of fasteners from a single ribbon bar, a pair of intermediate sections positioned to either side of middle section and adjacent thereto and including a pair of double ribbon bar holes for receiving a pair of fasteners from a double ribbon bar, and a pair of outer sections positioned exterior to said intermediate sections and including a pair of triple ribbon bar holes for receiving a pair of fasteners from a triple ribbon bar, each of said middle, intermediate, and exterior sections being separable from one another and said lower section.
A method of attaching ribbons and badges to a garment of a uniform having a pocket with an upper edge comprising:
- providing a positioning template including a badge positioning section with a horizontal centering mark and a ribbon positioning section including a vertical positioning mark;
- laying said garment out flat with said pocket facing outwardly;
- placing said template over said pocket aligning said centering said horizontal centering mark at a midpoint along said upper edge of said pocket;
- inserting a marking implement through said alignment holes in said ribbon positioning section to mark said garment above said upper edge indicating a placement of said ribbon fasteners;
- placing said template against an inner surface of the garment;
- inserting the ribbons' and badges' positioning pins through the positioning marks and through the template to position the ribbons and badges;
- and
- securing the ribbons and badges using a clasp at the end of the positioning pin.
A template for positioning and attaching military ribbons and badges having piercing fastener elements to a portion of a uniform garment relative to a top edge of a pocket, said template comprising:
- an elongated metal or plastic plate having a lower edge and an upper edge;
- a badge positioning section having one edge in common with said lower edge of said plate and including at least one laterally projecting slot dimensioned to receive a pair of said piercing fastener elements;
- and
- a ribbon positioning section including a pattern of bores spaced about to receive pins from ribbons to maintain the ribbons in selected spaced relation.
