Abstract
A method and apparatus is disclosed herein for generating visualizations (e.g., icons) suitable for a specific display. In one embodiment, the method comprises selecting a group of document images having similar layout features suitable for visualization or a specific display from the plurality of document images based on layout analysis information corresponding to the plurality of document images, and creating a plurality of visualizations to visualize document layout information for a group of document images based on one or more display device characteristics and based on content of the group of documents.

A method comprising:
- selecting a group of document images having similar layout features suitable for visualization on a specific display from the plurality of document images based on layout analysis information corresponding to the plurality of document images;
- and
- creating a plurality of visualizations to visualize document layout information for a group of document images based on one or more display device characteristics and based on content of the group of documents.
An article of manufacture having one or more recordable media storing instructions thereon which, when executed by a system, cause the system to perform a method comprising:
- selecting a group of document images having similar layout features suitable for visualization on a specific display from the plurality of document images based on layout analysis information corresponding to the plurality of document images;
- and
- creating a plurality of visualizations to visualize document layout information for a group of document images based on one or more display device characteristics and based on content of the group of documents.
An apparatus comprising:
- means for selecting a group of document images having similar layout features suitable for visualization on a specific display from the plurality of document images based on layout analysis information corresponding to the plurality of document images.
An apparatus comprising:
- means for creating a plurality of visualizations to visualize document layout information for a group of document images based on one or more display device characteristics and based on content of the group of documents.
A method comprising:
- clustering document images according to discriminative visualizable features;
- creating an iconic representation of discriminative visualizable features of document layout as a collection of iconic visual elements;
- and
- reducing one or more clusters based on display constraints.
An article of manufacture having one or more recordable media storing instructions thereon which, when executed by a system, cause the system to perform a method comprising:
- clustering document images according to discriminative visualizable features;
- creating an iconic representation of discriminative visualizable features of document layout as a collection of iconic visual elements;
- and
- reducing one or more clusters based on display constraints.
An apparatus comprising:
- means for clustering document images according to discriminative visualizable features;
- means for creating an iconic representation of discriminative visualizable features of document layout as a collection of iconic visual elements;
- and
- means for reducing one or more clusters based on display constraints.
A method for clustering document images according to discriminative visualizable features, the method comprising:
- dividing a feature space into visualization characteristics;
- projecting feature vectors onto feature subspaces of the feature space;
- clustering document images in each of the feature subspaces.
- selecting one cluster split from the cluster splits for each of the feature subspaces.
An apparatus comprising:
- a tree-clustering unit to cluster document images according to discriminative visualizable features;
- a icon-creation unit to create an iconic representation of discriminative visualizable features of document layout as a collection of iconic visual elements;
- and
- a tree-pruning unit to reduce one or more clusters based on display constraints to display icons at leaf notes of the pruned tree.
