Abstract
A knee brace divided into anterior and posterior sides by a frontal plane, and having first and second sides divided by a median plane. The knee brace including a frame having proximal and distal portions, a stability strap having first and second ends respectively connected to first and second sides on the proximal frame portion along the posterior side thereof, and a cross strap having a first end connected to the first side of the proximal and a second end connected to the distal frame portions. A bracket assembly having a buckle connects the stability and cross straps to the frame. A sleeve is provided which covers the frame and upon which the bracket assembly rests.

A knee brace divided into anterior and posterior sides by a frontal plane, and having first and second sides divided by a median plane, comprising:
- a frame having proximal and distal portions;
- a stability strap having first and second ends respectively connected to first and second sides on the proximal frame portion along the posterior side thereof;
- a cross strap having a first end connected to the first side of the proximal frame portion and a second end connected to the distal frame portion, the cross strap extending diagonally relative to the stability straps between the proximal and distal frame portions;
- a bracket assembly having a buckle and connecting to the first side of the proximal frame portion;
- wherein the first end of the stability strap is attached to the buckle and the first end of the cross strap is connected to the bracket assembly.
A method for securing a knee onto a leg, the knee brace having proximal and distal frame portions, the method comprising the steps of:
- connecting a first end of a proximal stability strap to a buckle assembly and a second end to the proximal frame portion, the buckle assembly having open and closed positions;
- adjusting the length of the proximal stability strap;
- connecting a first end of a cross strap to the buckle assembly and a second end of the cross strap to the distal frame portion;
- adjusting the length of the cross strap;
- securing the buckle assembly to the proximal frame portion in the open position;
- and
- closing the buckle assembly against the proximal frame portion.
A knee brace divided into anterior and posterior sides by a frontal plane, and having first and second sides divided by a median plane, comprising:
- a frame having proximal and distal portions;
- a stability strap having first and second ends respectively connected to first and second sides on the proximal frame portion along the posterior side thereof;
- a cross strap having a first end connected to the first side of the proximal and a second end connected to the distal frame portions, the cross strap extending diagonally relative to the stability straps between the proximal and distal frame portions;
- and
- a sleeve covering the proximal and distal frame portions;
- wherein the first end of the stability strap extends over the sleeve corresponding to the first side of the proximal frame portion, the sleeve having an opening through which the second end of the stability strap extends to connect to the second side of the proximal frame portion;
- wherein the first end of the cross strap extends over the sleeve corresponding to the first side of the proximal frame portion, the sleeve having an opening corresponding to the first side of the distal frame portion through which the second end of the cross strap extends to connect to the first side of the distal frame portion.
