Abstract
A knee brace having a frame with separate proximal and distal portions extending across an anterior side of the brace. The brace also includes a ventilated spacer element connected to the frame, and generally corresponding in size to the proximal and distal frame portions. The spacer element has a compressible core and a frictional feature disposed over the core. The frictional feature is arranged to prevent rotation of the brace on a leg of a wearer of the brace.
Claims20
A knee brace divided into anterior and posterior sides by a frontal plane, and having first and second sides divided by a median plane, comprising:
- a frame having proximal and distal portions;
- a spacer element generally including a ventilated and compressible core having first and second opposed surfaces, and a frictional coating disposed over the first surface of the core, the second core surface connected to the frame;
- wherein the first core surface includes a plurality of apertures, the frictional coating having apertures corresponding to the first core surface apertures.
A knee brace divided into anterior and posterior sides by a frontal plane, and having first and second sides divided by a median plane, comprising:
- a frame having separate proximal and distal portions extending across the anterior side, each of the proximal and distal frame portions having enlarged sections located at the first and second sides, the distal frame portion having an extension section extending over at least a portion of the posterior side;
- and
- a ventilated spacer element generally in size corresponding to the proximal and distal frame portions, the spacer element comprising a compressible core having first and second opposed surfaces, and a frictional feature disposed over the first surface of the core, the second core surface being connected to the frame.
A knee brace divided into anterior and posterior sides by a frontal plane, and having first and second sides divided by a median plane, comprising:
- a frame having proximal and distal portions with front and rear surfaces;
- a hinge having proximal and distal arms connecting the proximal and distal frame portions;
- and
- a spacer element including a compressible core having first and second opposed surfaces, and a frictional feature continuously disposed over the first surface of the core, the second core surface being connected to the frame;
- wherein the hinge connects to rear surface of the frame on one of the first and second sides of the brace, the proximal and distal arms interposed between the frame and the spacer element.
