A compound of Formula I:
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof, wherein:
- R1 is substituted alkyl or substituted cycloalkyl;
- Each R2 is independently selected from H, alkyl, substituted alkyl, and OR11;
- or one R2 together with another adjacent R2 may form a fused phenyl ring;
- Each R3 is independently selected from H, halogen, OH, OMe, OEt, SH, Me, Et, CO2H, NHSO2Me, and NHSO2Et;
- or one R3 together with another adjacent R3 may form a fused heterocycle;
- R4 is H, Me, Et, or iso-propyl;
- R11 is H, alkyl, substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, substituted cycloalkyl, aryl, or substituted aryl;
- m is 1 or 2;
- and
- n is 1, 2, or 3.
A method of inhibiting the activity of 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 3 enzyme which comprises administering to a mammalian species in need thereof an effective amount of at least one compound of Formula I:
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof, wherein:
- R1 is alkyl, substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, or substituted cycloalkyl;
- Each R2 is independently selected from H, alkyl, substituted alkyl, and OR11;
- or one R2 together with another adjacent R2 may form a fused phenyl ring;
- Each R3 is independently selected from H, halogen, OH, OMe, OEt, SH, Me, Et, CO2H, NHSO2Me, and NHSO2Et;
- or one R3 together with another adjacent R3 may form a fused heterocycle;
- R4 is H, Me, Et, or iso-propyl;
- R11 is hydrogen, alkyl, substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, substituted cycloalkyl, aryl, or substituted aryl;
- m is 1 or 2;
- and
- n is 1, 2, or 3.
A method for treating a condition or disorder comprising administering to a mammalian species in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of at least one compound of Formula I:
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof, wherein:
- R1 is alkyl, substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, or substituted cycloalkyl;

- or one R3 together with another adjacent R3 may form a fused heterocycle;
- R4 is H, Me, Et, or iso-propyl;
- R11 is hydrogen, alkyl, substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, substituted cycloalkyl, aryl, or substituted aryl;
- m is 1 or 2;
- and
- n is 1,2, or 3;
- wherein said condition or disorder is selected from proliferative diseases, cancers, benign prostate hypertrophia, benign prostatic hyperplasia, adenomas and neoplasies of the prostate, cancer associated with benign or malignant tumor cells that contain at least one androgen receptor, brain cancer, skin cancer, bladder cancer, lymphatic cancer, liver cancer, kidney cancer, pancreatic cancer, prostate cancer, hirsutism, acne, precocious puberty, angiogenic conditions or disorders, hyperpilosity, inflammation, immune modulation, seborrhea, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, androgenic alopecia, hypogonadism, osteoporosis, suppressing spermatogenesis, male and female sexual dysfunction, libido, cachexia, anorexia, muscular atrophy in ambulatory patients, age related decrease of testosterone levels in men, cancers containing at least one estrogen receptor, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, endometrial cancer, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, menopause, amenorrhea, dysmennorrhea, contraception, pregnancy termination, cancers containing at least one progesterone receptor, cyclesynchrony, meniginoma, fibroids, labor induction, autoimmune diseases, Alzheimer's disease, psychotic disorders, drug dependence, non-insulin dependent Diabetes Mellitus, dopamine receptor mediated disorders, heart disease, congestive heart failure, and disregulation of cholesterol homeostasis.
