Methods and devices for hybridization and binding assays using thermophoresis

An apparatus comprising:

• a container for holding a mixture comprising a target molecule, and an array therein;
• a reservoir connected to the container;
• and
• a temperature control system,
• wherein the temperature control system is capable of creating a temperature gradient sufficient to produce movement of at least a portion of the target molecule through the mixture in the container.
