Abstract
The disclosure relates to pre-moistened webs and wipes having visible compressed sites that provide the perception of a cloth-like texture. The disclosure also relates to a nonwoven web made of non-thermoplastic fibers with at least one compressed site on the surface of the web that remains visible when the web is pre-moistened.
Claims20
A nonwoven web, said web consisting essentially of non-thermoplastic fibers wherein at least about 20% by weight of said non-thermoplastic fibers have a fiber length of at least about 18 mm, wherein said web comprises:
- (a) a surface;
- and
- (b) at least one compressed site comprising un-melted fibers,
- wherein said at least one compressed site is located on said surface and is visible when said web is pre-moistened.
A method of making a pre-moistened nonwoven web comprising at least one compressed site that is visible, wherein said method comprises the steps of:
- (a) providing at least one nonwoven web comprising a surface and non-thermoplastic fibers, wherein at least about 20% by weight of said non-thermoplastic fibers have a fiber length of at least about 18 mm;
- (b) applying a compressive stress of at least about 200 Newtons per square meter to said web to create at least one compressed site on said surface;
- and
- (c) pre-moistening said web.
A wipe, wherein said wipe comprises a carded spunlaced web, and said web comprises:
- (a) from about 20% to about 80% by weight of rayon fibers and from about 80% to about 20% by weight of pulp fibers, wherein said rayon fibers have a fiber length of at least about 18 mm;
- (b) a surface;
- and
- (c) at least one compressed site comprising un-melted fibers,
- wherein said compressed site is located on said surface and is visible when said web is pre-moistened.
