Abstract
The present application describes therapy with angiogenesis antagonists such as anti-VEGF antibodies. In particular, the application describes the use of such antagonists to treat autoimmune disease in a patient who has failed prior treatment such as treatment with DMARDs or TNFα-inhibitors.

Use of an angiogenesis antagonist in the preparation of a medicament for the treatment of an autoimmune disease in a mammal who has failed prior therapy.
Use of an anti-VEGF antibody in the preparation of a medicament for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis in a patient who has failed prior DMARD or TNFα-inhibitor therapy and currently has an inadequate response to MTX.
