Abstract
Patterned photovoltaic cells, as well as related components and methods, are disclosed.

A formulation, comprising:
- cis-RuLL′(NCS)2, wherein L comprises a first 2,2′-bipyridyl and L′ comprises a second 2,2′-bipyridyl, and
- an organic solvent selected from the group consisting of g-butyrolactone, 1-methoxy-2-propanol, N,N-dimethylacetamide, propylene glycol phenyl ether, and mixtures thereof.
A formulation, comprising a dye and a thickening agent.
A method, comprising:
- disposing a formulation comprising cis-RuLL′(NCS)2 and a first organic solvent on a first material to form a photoactive layer, wherein L comprises a first 2,2′-bipyridyl, L′ comprises a second 2,2′-bipyridyl, and the first organic solvent is selected from the group consisting of g-butyrolactone, 1-methoxy-2-propanol, N,N-dimethylacetamide, propylene glycol phenyl ether, and a mixture thereof;
- disposing the photoactive layer between two electrodes to provide a photovoltaic cell.
A method, comprising:
- disposing a formulation containing a dye and a thickening agent on a first material to form a photoactive layer, and
- disposing the photoactive layer between two electrodes to provide a photovoltaic cell.
