Abstract
The recirculation combustion system is installed in the exhaust stream of a combustion chamber to increase exhaust cleanliness and thermal efficiency. The system directs hot exhaust gases through a filtering system to remove the larger particulate materials and pollutants, and then return the gas back to the combustion chamber. This system includes a baghouse unit, a molten metal reactor system with automatic feed and waste removal, a separator system, an active exhaust stack and recirculation line control system, and an automatic oxygen and recirculation gas mixing system.
Claims21
A recirculating system for use with combustion chambers, the system comprising
- a molten metal reactor to receive combustion exhaust gases from a combustion chamber, wherein the molten metal reactor breaks down the combustion exhaust gases into constituent parts, consumes at least a portion of the constituent parts, and expels a reactor exhaust, wherein the reactor exhaust is primarily carbon dioxide;
- a flow controller to regulate flow of reactor exhaust between an exhaust stack and a recirculating path;
- and
- a flow mixer to mix the reactor exhaust from the recirculating path and oxygen and provide the mix to the combustion chamber.
A recirculating combustion system, the system comprising;
- a fossil fuel supply;
- a combustion chamber to burn fossil fuel from the fossil fuel supply, wherein the combustion chamber creates a combustion exhaust;
- a molten metal reactor to filter toxins from the combustion exhaust and expel a reactor exhaust that is primarily carbon dioxide, wherein the combustion exhaust is forced into a molten metal bath at a high pressure causing gas bubbles and the gas bubbles react with the molten metal to break down and consume the toxins;
- a flow controller to regulate flow of the reactor exhaust between an exhaust stack and a recirculating path;
- an oxygen supply;
- and
- a mixer to mix the reactor exhaust and oxygen from the oxygen supply to create a recirculated combustion gas and to provide the recirculated combustion gas to the combustion chamber.
A method for recirculating combustion gases, the method comprising:
- receiving combustion exhaust gases from a combustion chamber at a molten metal reactor;
- breaking down the combustion exhaust gases into constituent parts and consuming at least a portion of the constituent parts within the molten metal reactor;
- expelling a reactor exhaust from the molten metal reactor that is primarily carbon dioxide;
- regulating flow of the reactor exhaust between an exhaust stack and a recirculating path;
- mixing the reactor exhaust from the recirculating path and oxygen to create a recirculated combustion gas;
- and
- providing the recirculated combustion gas to the combustion chamber.
