Abstract
A method of generating a device certificate. A method of generating a device certificate comprising, constructing a device certificate challenge at a device, sending information to a device certificate individualization server in response to the device certificate challenge, validating the device certificate challenge by the device certificate individualization server, and validating the device certificate response by the device.
Claims20
A consumer electronics device comprising:
- a license disposed on the consumer electronics device;
- an encrypted file disposed on the consumer electronics device;
- and
- a device certificate generated from a device certificate template disposed on the consumer electronics device.
A method of generating a device certificate comprising:
- constructing a device certificate challenge at a device;
- sending information to a device certificate individualization server in response to the device certificate challenge;
- validating the device certificate challenge by the device certificate individualization server;
- and
- validating the device certificate response by the device.
A method of consumer electronics device individualization comprising:
- sending from a device a bootstrap private key
- generating a new key pair, having a new private key and a new public key, from the bootstrap private key;
- encrypting a first package that is signed with the bootstrap private key;
- and
- returning from a service a second package to the device.
