Abstract
In one embodiment, an apparatus comprises a device to provide an estimate of supplied power circuitry configured to direct a level of power to be supplied to a load and configured to determine a difference between the level of the power and the estimate.
Claims48
An apparatus, comprising:
- a device to provide an estimate of supplied power;
- and
- circuitry configured to direct a level of power to be supplied to a load and configured to determine a difference between the level of the power to be supplied and the estimate.
A system comprising:
- a load;
- a power converter arranged to supply power to the load;
- a processing device configured to direct the power converter to supply a level of the power;
- a device to measure a parameter related to the power and configured to provide an estimate of the power using the parameter, with the processing device configured to determine a difference between the estimate of the power and the level of the power the processing device includes the configuration to direct the power converter to supply.

The system as recited in claim 22, wherein:
- the device provides the value of the current in a digital form and the value of the voltage in the digital form.
An image forming system, comprising:
- a power measurement device to determine an estimate of power consumption using a value of current and a value of voltage;
- a heater;
- a power converter configured to supply power to the heater;
- and
- a controller configured to direct the power converter to supply a level of the power to the heater and configured to determine a magnitude of a difference between the level of the power the controller includes a configuration to direct the power converter to supply and the estimate.
2 more elements
A method, comprising:
- directing a level of power to be supplied to a load;
- determining an estimate of the power provided to the load;
- determining a difference between the level of the power to be supplied to the load and the estimate;
- and
- determining if a magnitude of the difference exceeds a predetermined value.
2 more elements
A method for detecting a fault in an image forming system, comprising:
- directing a power controller to provide a level of power to a heater;
- determining an estimate of the power provided to the heater;
- determining a difference between the level of the power to be provided to the heater and the estimate;
- and
- detecting a fault if a magnitude of the difference exceeds a predetermined value.
2 more elements
An image forming system, comprising:
- a power measurement device including a current measurement device to measure a value of a current and a voltage measurement device to measure a value of a voltage, the power measurement device including a configuration to determine an estimate of power consumption using the value of the current and the value of the voltage;
- a heater including heating elements;
- a power controller configured to supply power to the heater;
- a switching mechanism to selectively configure the heating elements for operation with a plurality of voltage ranges;
- and
- a controller configured to direct the power converter to supply a target level of the power to the heater, to actuate the switching mechanism, and to determine a magnitude of a difference between the target level and the estimate.
3 more elements
An apparatus, comprising:
- means for supplying power to a load;
- means for determining an estimate of an amount of the power supplied to the load;
- and
- means for directing the means for supplying power to supply a level of the power to the load and for determining if a magnitude of a difference between the level of the power to be supplied to the load and the estimate of the amount of the power exceeds a threshold.
