Abstract
The invention relates to the use of a PDE4 or PDE3/4 inhibitor for the treatment of cachexia.

A method for treating cachexia, comprising administering to a patient in need thereof a thereapeutically effective amount of a PDE4 inhibitor or a pharmaceutically acceptable derivative thereof, or a PDE3/4 inhibitor or a pharmaceutically acceptable derivative thereof.

A method for treating cachexia in a human afflicted with cancer comprising the step of administering to a patient in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a PDE4 inhibitor or a pharmaceutically acceptable derivative thereof, or a PDE3/4 inhibitor or a pharmaceutically acceptable derivative thereof.
A method for improving the response to chemo- and/or radiation-therapy in a human afflicted to cancer and cachexia comprising the steps of administering an effective amount of a chemotherapeutic agent and/or radiation and an effective amount of a PDE4 inhibitor or a pharmaceutically acceptable derivative thereof, or a PDE3/4 inhibitor or a pharmaceutically acceptable derivative thereof.
