Abstract
The invention relates to cationic surfactants of the formula: in which R is an alkyl or alkenyl group containing 11 carbon atoms, R1 and R2 represent hydrogen or C1-4 alkyl group, R3 is a C1-4 alkyl group, R4 is hydrogen or a methyl group, A is a linear or branched C2-6 alkylene group, n is a number of 1 to 25 and X is halogen or alkyl sulfate.
Claims20
A cationic surfactant of the formula:
- , wherein R is an alkyl or alkenyl group containing 11 carbon atoms, R1 and R2 independently represent hydrogen or a C1-4 alkyl group, R3 is a C1-4 alkyl group, R4 is hydrogen or a methyl group, A is a linear or branched C2-6 alkylene group, n is a number of 1 to 25 and X is halogen or alkyl sulfate.
A process for the production of a cationic surfactant of the formula:
- , wherein, R is an alkyl or alkenyl group containing 11 carbon atoms, R1 and R2 independently represent hydrogen or a C1-4 alkyl group R3 is a C1-4 alkyl group, R4 is hydrogen or a methyl group, A is a linear or branched C2-6 alkylene group, n is a number of 1 to 25 and X is halogen or alkyl sulfate, which comprises:
- reacting (a) a product of the addition of on average 1 to 25 mols of at least one member selected from the group consisting of ethylene and propylene oxide onto a hydroxycarboxylic acid or a glyceride thereof with a diamine of the formula:
- in which R1, R2 and A are as defined above to form an alkoxylated hydroxy fatty acid amidoamine;
- and (b) quaternizing the alkoxylated hydroxy fatty acid amidoamine with an alkyl halide or dialkyl sulfate.
