Abstract
An object is tracked with a camera that is sensitive to both visible and invisible light. An invisible light reflector attached to the object may reflect a target of invisible light, which is provided by an invisible light emitter. The camera processes the invisible light and moves the field of view of the camera so that the object is centered within the field of view. The camera may also zoom the field of view to a desired magnification level.
Claims20
A videoconferencing system comprising:
- an invisible light source disposed on a first participant to a video conference;
- a camera, sensitive to both visible and invisible light, that captures a first video signal depicting the first participant, the first video signal having visible and invisible components;
- a tracking subsystem that utilizes the invisible component to orient a first field-of-view of the camera to center the invisible light source within the first field-of-view;
- a communication subsystem to transmit the visible component of the first video signal to a second participant to the video conference and to receive a second video signal depicting a second participant;
- and
- a display subsystem to display the second video signal to the first participant.
A method for tracking a participant during two-way video communication comprising:
- providing for capturing a first video signal depicting a first participant to a video conference wearing an invisible light source, the first video signal having both visible and invisible components;
- providing for orienting a first field-of-view of a camera to center the invisible light source within the first field-of-view;
- providing for transmitting the visible component of the first video signal to a second participant to the video conference;
- providing for receiving a second video signal depicting a second participant;
- and
- providing for displaying the second video signal to the first participant.
A machine-readable medium including program code that, when executed by a machine, causes a machine to perform a method of:
- capturing a first video signal depicting a first participant to a video conference wearing an invisible light source, the first video signal having both visible and invisible components;
- orienting a first field-of-view of a camera to center the invisible light source within the first field-of-view;
- transmitting the visible component of the first video signal to a second participant to the video conference;
- receiving a second video signal depicting a second participant;
- and
- displaying the second video signal to the first participant.
