Abstract
Compositions are provided comprising aqueous dispersions of polythienothiophenes and colloid-forming polymeric acids. Films from invention compositions are useful as hole injection layers in organic electronic devices, including electroluminescent devices, such as, for example, organic light emitting diodes (OLED) displays, as hole extraction layers in organic optoelectronic devices, such as organic photovoltaic devices, and in combination with metal nanowires or carbon nanotubes in applications such as drain, source, or gate electrodes in thin film field effect transistors.
Claims20
An aqueous dispersion comprising polythienothiophene and at least one colloid-forming polymeric acid.
A process for producing a dispersion comprising polythienothiophene, comprises:
- (a) providing an aqueous dispersion comprising at least one oxidant and/or at least one catalyst;
- (b) providing an aqueous dispersion comprising at least one colloid-forming polymeric acid;
- (c) combining the aqueous dispersion of step (a) with the aqueous dispersion of step (b), and
- (d) adding thienothiophene monomer to the combined aqueous dispersion of step (c) and;
- (e) forming polythienothiophene.
A method for forming a conductive film on a substrate comprising
- polymerizing thienothiophene monomer while in the presence of at least one fluorinated material in order to form a dispersion comprising polythienothiophene,
- applying the dispersion onto a substrate to form a film,
- heating the substrate and film;
- and
- recovering a film coated substrate.
A device comprising:
- at least two electrodes, a layer comprising poly(thieno[3,4-b]thiophene, and layer comprising at least one semi-conducting material.
