Abstract
A method for capturing energy from mechanical actions associated with recovery of underground fluids, and for improving the economic feasibility of low producing, but viable, oil wells. The present method captures energy associated with an oil well pump device and waste water as each fall under the influence of gravity. This energy is converted into a premium form, stored in an easily verified and metered form, and sold on a market, in accordance with a legislative scheme.
Claims11
A method for capturing energy from mechanical actions associated with recovery of underground fluids comprising the steps of:
- selecting reciprocating pumping means, said pumping means including power input means for forcibly moving the pumping component of said reciprocating pumping means in a first direction against the resistance of fluid elevation and recovery;
- selecting power generation means and interfacing said power generation means with said reciprocating pumping means whereby said power generation means is driven by said reciprocating pumping means during movement of said pumping component in a second direction, in whole or in part, under force of gravity, said second direction being substantially opposite said first direction;
- and
- interfacing power reception means with said power generation means, said power reception means for receiving energy produced by said power generation means and transmitting said energy to energy consumption means.
