Abstract
A novel Zantedeschia cultivar, designated 7033-01, is disclosed. The invention relates to the seeds of Zantedeschia cultivar 7033-01, to the plants of Zantedeschia cultivar 7033-01 and to methods for producing a Zantedeschia plant produced by crossing the cultivar 7033-01 with itself or another Zantedeschia variety. The invention further relates to hybrid Zantedeschia seeds and plants produced by crossing the cultivar 7033-01 with another Zantedeschia cultivar.
Claims25
Seed of Zantedeschia line designated 7033-01, representative seed of said line having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-______.
A Zantedeschia plant, or a part thereof, having all the physiological and morphological characteristics of the Zantedeschia cultivar 7033-01, representative seed of said line having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-______.
A method of introducing a desired trait into Zantedeschia line 7033-01 wherein the method comprises:
- (a) crossing 7033-01 plants grown from 7033-01 seed, representative seed of which has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-______, with plants of another Zantedeschia line that comprise a desired trait to produce F1 progeny plants, wherein the desired trait is selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide resistance, insect resistance, and disease resistance;
- (b) selecting F1 progeny plants that have the desired trait to produce selected F1 progeny plants;
- (c) crossing the selected progeny plants with the 7033-01 plants to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait and physiological and morphological characteristics of Zantedeschia line 7033-01 to produce selected backcross progeny plants;
- and
- (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) to produce selected first or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of Zantedeschia line 7033-01 as determined at the 5% significance level when grown in the same environmental conditions.
