Abstract
The present invention relates to methods and compositions for importing DNA into the nuclei of a specific cell type. In particular, the present invention provides methods and compositions for specifically targeting the nuclei of pulmonary cells.
Claims10
A method for tissue specific nuclear import, comprising:
- a) providing
- i) a construct comprising a cell-specific nuclear targeting signal operably linked to a nucleic acid of interest, wherein said cell-specific nuclear targeting signal comprises at least a portion of a surfactant protein C promoter region;
- and
- ii) a cell;
- and
- b) contacting said cell with said construct under conditions such that said nucleic acid of interest is expressed.
