Abstract
A female terminal fitting (12) has tube (19) for receiving a male terminal fitting (10). A main spring (27) is cantilevered forwardly from the tube (19) and an auxiliary spring (30) is cantilevered forwardly at the outer side of the main spring piece (27). Stoppers (32) bulge out from the opposite sides of the auxiliary spring (30) for preventing the auxiliary spring (30) from being displaced up when the free end of the auxiliary spring (30) is thrust up from the outer side. Receiving portions (33) are left in the tube (19) during the forming of the auxiliary spring (30) and contact the stoppers (32). Thus, even if an external matter strikes against the auxiliary spring (30), the auxiliary spring (30) will not deform excessively in thrust-up direction.
Claims15
A terminal fitting (12), comprising:
- a tube (19) for receiving a mating terminal (10);
- a spring (27;
- 30) exposed at a side surface of the tube (19), the spring (27;
- 30) including at least one stopper (32);
- and
- at least one receiving portion (33) formed on the tube (19) and disposed for contacting the stopper (32) and limiting displacement of the spring (27;
- 30) into the tube (19).
A terminal fitting (12), comprising:
- a tube (19) for receiving a mating terminal (10);
- a main spring (27) cantilevered forward in the tube (19);
- an auxiliary spring (30) cantilevered forward on the tube (19) and disposed outwardly from the main spring (27);
- and
- at least one reinforcement (31) formed on at least one of the main spring (27) and the auxiliary spring (30).
A connector, comprising:
- at least one terminal fitting (12) with opposite front and rear ends, a tube (19) adjacent the front end and configured for receiving a mating terminal (10), a barrel (20) behind the tube (19) and connectable with a wire (21), the barrel (20) being cross-sectionally larger than the tube (19);
- and
- a housing (13) with opposite front and rear ends, at least one cavity (15) extending into the rear end of the housing (13) and continuing substantially to the front end of the housing (13), the cavity (15) having a cross-sectionally small tube-receiving portion (37A) substantially adjacent the front end of the housing (13) for receiving the tube (19) of the terminal fitting (12), a cross-sectionally large barrel-receiving portion (37B) substantially adjacent the rear end of the housing (13) for receiving the barrel (20) of the terminal fitting (12) and a step (22) between the cross-sectionally large tube-receiving portion (37A) of the cavity (15) and the cross-sectionally small barrel-receiving portion (37B) of the cavity (15), portions of the housing (13) corresponding to the tube-receiving portion (37A) of the cavity being cross-sectionally smaller than portions of the housing (13) corresponding to the barrel-receiving portion (37B) of the cavity (15).
