Abstract
A transceiver is disclosed. The transceiver includes a carrier assembly having active components to transmit and receive optical input/output (I/O); and a connector, coupled to the carrier assembly to couple optical I/O between the active components and a waveguide.
Claims26
A transceiver comprising:
- a carrier assembly having:
- a molded lead frame;
- active components mounted on the molded lead frame to transmit and receive optical input/output (I/O);
- and
- an alignment frame;
- and
- a connector, coupled to the carrier assembly, to couple optical I/O between the active components and a waveguide.

The transceiver of claim 111 wherein the alignment frame comprises a second set of optical couplers that are inserted within the connector ferrule.
A transceiver comprising:
- a first alignment component having a first set of holes to couple optical input/output (I/O) to photoactive components;
- and
- a second alignment component having a first set of optical couplers that are inserted into the first set of holes to provide optical alignment between the photoactive components and optical fibers coupled to the second alignment component, and to couple optical I/O to and from the photoactive components.
A system comprising:
- a notebook computer base;
- a first transceiver coupled to the notebook base;
- a waveguide coupled to the first transceiver;
- a second transceiver coupled to the waveguide;
- and
- a display panel coupled to the second transceiver;
- wherein the first transceiver and the second transceiver each include:
- a carrier assembly having active components to transmit and receive the optical I/O;
- an
- a connector, coupled to the carrier assembly and the waveguide, to couple optical I/O between the active components and the waveguide.
