Method and apparatus for initializing optical

An initializing apparatus, comprising:

• a power supplier for driving an initializing light source for radiating an initializing light onto an optical recording medium;
• a detector for detecting the light reflected by the optical recording medium;
• and
• a control circuit, which a digital value converted according to the intensity of the detected light is input, for determining whether or not the optical recording medium is initialized successfully based on the digital value.

An initializing method comprising the steps of:

• driving an initializing light source for radiating an initializing light onto an optical recording medium;
• rotating the optical recording medium;
• detecting the light reflected by the optical recording medium;
• converting an electromotive force according to the intensity of the detected light into a digital value;
• and
• determining whether or not the optical recording medium is initialized successfully based on the digital value.

An optical phase-charge recording medium formed by a method comprising the steps of:

• driving an initializing light source for radiating an initializing light onto an optical recording medium;
• rotating the optical recording medium;
• detecting the light reflected by the optical recording medium;
• converting an electromotive force according to the intensity of the detected light into a digital value;
• and
• determining whether or not the optical recording medium is initialized successfully based on the digital value.
