An ice skate blade sharpening tool includes a housing possessing a bore enclosing a blade sharpening tool, the housing possessing a slot for its full length for rendering a blade sharpening surface of the blade sharpening tool accessible to a blade to be sharpened; and, a blade sharpening tool within the bore of housing, the blade sharpening tool possessing a succession of arcuate blade cutting edges.

An ice skate blade sharpening device which comprises:
- a housing possessing a bore enclosing a blade sharpening tool, the housing possessing a slot for its full length for rendering a blade sharpening surface of the blade sharpening tool accessible to a blade to be sharpened;
- and,
- a blade sharpening tool within the bore of the housing, the blade sharpening tool possessing a succession of arcuate blade cutting edges.
