## Abstract

Aqueous compositions comprising a synergistic combination of sodium hydroxide, sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate, and either benzyl alcohol or propylene glycol phenyl ether are described. The compositions provide good germicidal efficacy against both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria on hard surfaces and the like. Processes for the sanitization of hard surfaces wherein the presence of Gram positive and/or Gram negative bacteria is suspected are also disclosed.
