A data communication system is provided doe communicating data between a transmitting node and a receiving node. The transmitting node has means for transmitting data from at least two streamed data signals across respective transmission paths of a communication link; means for transmitting timing information for at least two base clock signals across the communication link; and means for transmitting configuration data specifying respective associations between each transmission path and a corresponding one of the base clock signals such that a transmission path can be associated with any one of the base clock signals. The receiving node has: means for receiving data from the transmission paths of the communication link; means for processing the timing information for the base clock signals in response to the configuration data to generate a respective sample clock corresponding to each transmission path; and means for associating the sample clock with data from the respective transmission path in dependence upon the configuration data to recover the streamed data signals.
A data communication system comprising:
A transmitting node for use in a data communication system, said transmitting node comprising:
A receiving node for use in a data communication system, said receiving node comprising:
A data communication method for communicating data between a transmission node and a reception node across a communication link, said method comprising the steps of:
A method of operation of a transmission node for use in a data communication system, said method comprising the steps of:
A method of operation of a reception node for use in a data communication system, said method comprising the steps of:
A data stream comprising timing information for at least two base clock signals, data from at least two streamed data signals and configuration data specifying respective associations between each streamed data signal and a corresponding one of said base clock signals such that a streamed data signal can be associated with any one of said base clock signals.
