System and method for transitioning between modulation formats in adjacent bursts triggering on data flow

A modulation system enabled to transition from a first modulation format for a first transmit burst to a second modulation format for a second transmit burst adjacent to the first transmit burst comprising:

• first modulation circuitry adapted to modulate data for the first transmit burst according to the first modulation format;
• second modulation circuitry adapted to modulate data for the second transmit burst according to the second modulation format and reset when the modulation system receives a timing control signal signifying a start of data into the modulation system for the second transmit burst;
• and
• interface circuitry adapted to receive the data for the second transmit burst and delay the data for the second transmit burst with respect to the timing control signal signifying the start of the data into modulation system for the second transmit burst by a variable modulator delay time prior to providing the data for the second transmit burst to the second modulation circuitry;
• wherein the variable modulator delay time is selected such that a glitch caused by resetting the second modulation circuitry occurs at an output of the second modulation circuitry before ramp-up of an output power of a power amplifier that amplifies modulated data from the output of the second modulation circuitry for the second transmit burst.
