Abstract
Methods and apparatus for manufacturing particleboard (PB), medium density fiberboard (MDF), oriented strand board (OSB) and board products and the like employ density control for producing a board product having a desired configuration.
Claims20
A method for forming a board product, comprising the steps of:
- taking a cross-panel density sampling of a mat being formed;
- and
- adjusting a forming apparatus in response to the cross-panel density sampling to provide a desired density product based thereon.
A drying machine for a mat material, comprising:
- a heated, fluidized bed conveyor for heating of the mat material;
- and
- a humidity controller for preventing “case hardening” of the mat material when drying.
A method of forming a mat from material particles, comprising:
- employing a first conveying belt having cells or textured surface of a first size within which said material particles may be conveyed and deposited upon a forming line conveyor;
- and
- employing a second conveying belt having cells or textured surface of a second size different from said first first size, within which said material particles may be conveyed.
