Method, apparatus and computer program product for implementing enhanced compiled breakpoint analysis

Apparatus for implementing compiled breakpoint analysis comprising:

• a debugger user interface for receiving user selections for defining breakpoint properties in a program;
• a debugger responsive to a predefined user selection, for exporting a conditional breakpoint and a breakpoint condition to be compiled for debug;
• said debugger being responsive to a source module being compiled for debug, for providing a conditional breakpoint code inserted into the program executable for a user-selected line;
• said debugger responsive to debugging the program executable, for identifying a compiled conditional breakpoint;
• and
• said debugger using compiled breakpoint information, for setting a conditional breakpoint on the user-selected line and for identifying statement numbers for a true leg and a false leg of a compiled condition.

A debugger computer program product for implementing enhanced compiled breakpoint analysis in a computer system, said debugger computer program product including instructions executed by the computer system to cause the computer system to perform the steps of:

• providing a debugger user interface for defining breakpoint properties in a program;
• responsive to a predefined user selection, exporting a conditional breakpoint and condition to be compiled for debug;
• responsive to a source module being compiled for debug, inserting a conditional breakpoint code into the program executable for a user-selected line;
• responsive to debugging the program executable, identifying a compiled conditional breakpoint;
• using compiled breakpoint information, setting a conditional breakpoint on the user-selected line and identifying statement numbers for a true leg and a false leg of a compiled condition.
