Abstract
The present invention provides a method and system that will enable a wireless telephone user to more easily download information and data by from locations accessed via a communication network. This invention accomplishes this task by expanding the bandwidth of the receiving telephone device such that the bandwidth is sufficient to receive the transmitted data. The present invention expands this bandwidth at the receiver location by combining the bandwidth of the additional wireless telephones with the bandwidth of one requester telephone and receiving a portion of the information at each of the wireless telephones.
Claims22
A method for seamless integration of multiple wireless data connections comprising the steps of:
- establishing a connection with a data source from a requester device;
- determining the number of devices that will assist in the downloading of data from a data source, the devices being contributor devices;
- assigning packet ranges for the data to be downloaded between the requestor device and the contributor devices;
- receiving information packets at the requestor and contributor devices;
- transmitting the received packets from the contributor devices to the requestor device;
- and
- assembling the received packets at the requestor device into the original data downloaded from the data source.
A computer program product in a computer readable medium for seamless integration of multiple wireless data connections comprising:
- instructions for establishing a connection with a data source from a requester device;
- instructions for determining the number of devices that will assist in the downloading of data from a data source, the devices being contributor devices;
- instructions for assigning packet ranges for the data to be downloaded between the requestor device and the contributor devices;
- instructions for receiving information packets at the requestor and contributor devices;
- instructions for transmitting the received packets from the contributor devices to the requestor device;
- and
- instructions for assembling the received packets at the requestor device into the original data downloaded from the data source.
A system for seamless integration of multiple wireless data connections comprising:
- a requestor device;
- at least one contributor device;
- a software module to determine the number of contributor devices contributing to the download of information and for monitoring the number of contributor devices contributing to the download process of information to the requester device.
