Abstract
The invention relates to a layered chewing gum tablet comprising at least one layer containing gum base, wherein the at least one layer containing gum base comprises gum base in an amount of 35.5 to 86.5 weight-% based on the total weight of the layered chewing gum tablet and the gum base is present in compressed gum granules having an average diameter in the range of 0.1 to 2.5 mm. Preferably the layered chewing gum tablet also comprises at least one layer that is substantially free of gum base.
Claims23
A layered chewing gum tablet of compressed material comprising at least two layers wherein at least one of the at least two layers contains gum base, and wherein the at least one layer containing gum base comprises gum base in an amount of 35.5 to 86.5 weight-% based on the total weight of the layered chewing gum tablet said gum base being present in compressed gum granules having an average diameter in the range of 0.1 to 2.5 mm.
A method for manufacturing a layered chewing gum tablet comprising the steps of
- i) placing a first portion including gum granules to constitute a first layer in a mould and pre-compress the first portion, and
- ii) placing a second portion to constitute a second layer onto the pre-compressed first layer in the mould, and
- iii) compressing the layers to form a layered tablet
- wherein the first portion comprises gum base in an amount of 35.5 to 86.5 weight-% based on the total weight of the layered chewing gum tablet and the gum base is present in gum granules having an average diameter in the range of 0.1 to 2.5 mm.
