VSB communication system

A method of multiplexing supplemental data with main data in a VSB transmitter, the method comprising the step of:

• multiplexing a plurality of enhanced supplemental data segments generated by inserting null bits into original supplemental data packets with a plurality of main data segments in a data field, wherein positions of the enhanced supplemental data segments are assigned to every fourth segment starting from at least one predetermined start position within the data field.

A method of multiplexing supplemental data with main data in a VSB transmitter, the method comprising the step of:

• multiplexing a plurality of enhanced supplemental data segments generated by inserting null bits into original supplemental data packets with a plurality of main data segments in a data field, wherein positions of the enhanced supplemental data segments are assigned to every fourth segment starting from a predetermined start position within the data field.

A method of multiplexing supplemental data with main data in a VSB transmitter, the method comprising the step of:

• multiplexing a plurality of enhanced supplemental data segments generated by inserting null bits into original supplemental data packets with a plurality of main data segments in a data field, wherein positions of the enhanced supplemental data segments are assigned to every fourth segment starting from a first predetermined start position within the data field, and to every fourth segment starting from a second predetermined start position within the data field.

A method of multiplexing supplemental data with main data in a VSB transmitter, the method comprising the step of:

• multiplexing a plurality of enhanced supplemental data segments generated by inserting null bits into original supplemental data packets with a plurality of main data segments in a data field, wherein positions of the enhanced supplemental data segments are assigned to every fourth segment starting from a first predetermined start position within the data field, to every fourth segment starting from a second predetermined start position within the data field, and to every fourth segment starting from a third predetermined start position within the data field.

A method of multiplexing supplemental data with main data in a VSB transmitter, the method comprising the step of:

• multiplexing a plurality of enhanced supplemental data segments generated by inserting null bits into original supplemental data packets with a plurality of main data segments in a data field, wherein positions of the enhanced supplemental data segments are assigned to every fourth segment starting from a first predetermined start position within the data field, to every fourth segment starting from a second predetermined start position within the data field, to every fourth segment starting from a third predetermined start position within the data field, and to every fourth segment starting from a fourth predetermined start position within the data field.

A method of demultiplexing an input signal including supplemental data and main data in a VSB receiver, the method comprising the steps of:

• demultiplexing a plurality of enhanced supplemental data segments and a plurality of main data segments multiplexed in a data field, wherein positions of the enhanced supplemental data segments are assigned to every fourth segment starting from at least one predetermined start position within the data field;
• and
• obtaining original supplemental data packets included in the data field from the demultiplexed enhanced supplemental data segments.

A method of demultiplexing an input signal including supplemental data and main data in a VSB receiver, the method comprising the steps of:

• demultiplexing a plurality of enhanced supplemental data segments and a plurality of main data segments multiplexed in a data field, wherein positions of the enhanced supplemental data segments are assigned to every fourth segment starting from a predetermined start position within the data field;
• and
• obtaining original supplemental data packets included in the data field from the demultiplexed enhanced supplemental data segments.

A method of demultiplexing an input signal including supplemental data and main data in a VSB receiver, the method comprising the steps of:

• demultiplexing a plurality of enhanced supplemental data segments and a plurality of main data segments multiplexed in a data field, wherein positions of the enhanced supplemental data segments are assigned to every fourth segment starting from a first predetermined start position within the data field, and to every fourth segment starting from a second predetermined start position within the data field;
• and
• obtaining original supplemental data packets included in the data field from the demultiplexed enhanced supplemental data segments.

A method of demultiplexing an input signal including supplemental data and main data in a VSB receiver, the method comprising the steps of:

• demultiplexing a plurality of enhanced supplemental data segments and a plurality of main data segments multiplexed in a data field, wherein positions of the enhanced supplemental data segments are assigned to every fourth segment starting from a first predetermined start position within the data field, to every fourth segment starting from a second predetermined start position within the data field, and to every fourth segment starting from a third predetermined start position within the data field;
• and
• obtaining original supplemental data packets included in the data field from the demultiplexed enhanced supplemental data segments.

A method of demultiplexing an input signal including supplemental data and main data in a VSB receiver, the method comprising the steps of:

• demultiplexing a plurality of enhanced supplemental data segments and a plurality of main data segments multiplexed in a data field, wherein positions of the enhanced supplemental data segments are assigned to every fourth segment starting from a first predetermined start position within the data field, to every fourth segment starting from a second predetermined start position within the data field, to every fourth segment starting from a third predetermined start position within the data field, and to every fourth segment starting from a fourth predetermined start position within the data field;
• and
• obtaining original supplemental data packets included in the data field from the demultiplexed enhanced supplemental data segments.
